Selected Works

Most of the works in this collection were done in the early part of the year 2000, as part of a Hubon Madiaas group show entitled "Dihon Sa Lunang"  held at SM City in Iloilo City in Feb.- March 2000.

The show, funded by a grant from the National Commission for Culture & the Arts (NCCA), was held in conjunction with the celebration of "February 2000, Philippine National Arts Month", and was favorably reviewed in the international art magazine "World Sculpture News" in its  Spring 2000, Vol. 6, No. 2 issue.

Most of the works focus on the subject of dance, a carry-over of a thematic concern which I began in a sculpture show held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines entitled "Dance in Wood & Nails" in 1998.

Why "Dance"? Dance has always been one of the themes of my artistic career, having been a theater director for more than twenty years and a playwright-director of several dance-dramas, two of which became official Philippine representatives to international art festivals.

A major piece in this collection is an installation work entitled "Dancing for the Moon", a piece focusing on the ever-important theme of environmental protection and preservation.  Others dwell on genre themes such as "gossip" and "ballroom dancing" done especially with satire in mind.
