The prices that are indicated here are my Gallery Prices, or the prices of my artworks when they are being displayed or sold at formal art galleries in the Visayas or in Metro Manila. This work was inspired by the recent controversy that gripped the country--the mis-encounter between the SAF (Special Armed Forces) of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and forces of the BIFF (Islamic Freedom Fighters) and the Moro National Liberation Front) which resulted in the death of 44 SAF fighters. The SAF soldiers were tasked to capture two major terrorists responsible for several bombings not only in the Philippines but in Asia.
The country gravely mourned the demise of the 44 and their heroism was hailed and celebrated all over the country. This event somewhat endangered the peace process ongoing between the Government and the MILF. Investigations about the event are still ongoing until now.
Although presented in abstraction I believe I have capture the conflict, confusion and the tragedy of the whole event. The SAF 44 are here symbolized in the painting by 44 silver bullets spread out all over the pictorial space.
